UNITED WANT TO BRING RONALDO BACK
Actually, we're surprised this story doesn't do the rounds more often, given the very serious Jones that most Manchester United fans still have for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Here goes. The Daily Star reports that Manchester United are working on a deal to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.

Apparently United are working on a £55million deal to take Ronaldo back, as part of a 'complex financial package which will become the model for big contracts in European football'.This seemingly will involve various commercial ventures which we don't pretend to understand.

The paper reports: 'Ronaldo believes he has not been given the respect he deserves in Spain, even in Madrid, because fans favour the brilliance of Lionel Messi ahead of him.

'With his major ally at Real, boss Jose Mourinho, leaving at the end of the season, the Portugal star is now open to moving back to England.

'Paris St Germain remain in the market, and the French club could step up their interest if they are the ones to give Mourinho his next job in management - but the north-west of England is the favoured destination for the player.'

Quite why Real would sell their best player to a theoretical European rival for a £25million loss is not adequately explained, other than some mumbling about the deflation in transfer fees.

AND REAL WANT DE GEA
And this is one that very much does do the rounds very often, so we'll deal with it quickly then move on.

The Daily Mirror reports that Real want David de Gea to replace Iker Casillas, and United's apparent interest in Asmir Begovic makes this one a goer in their eyes.

There. Done. Next.

NANI TO ARSENAL?
Quick line from The Independent, who report that Nani's days at Manchester United are numbered, something that does not come as a galloping shock.

More interesting is his proposed destination, with the paper suggesting Arsenal could be interested.

United want to keep him, but with the arrival of Wilfried Zaha, they might not bust their balls on that one.

They quote Sir Alex Ferguson as saying: "[Chief executive] David [Gill] has been speaking to [Nani's] agent for quite a few weeks now.

"It's up to the boy himself. He's got a year and a half left, I would prefer to keep him to the end of his contract. But I think he wants guaranteed first-team football. But he can guarantee that. His performance the other night can guarantee that. We're trying our best because he's such a match-winning player."

SAGNA ON HIS WAY
In The Guardian there is word that Nani possibly won't be playing with Bacary Sagna.

The Arsenal right-back is apparently miffed that he has only been offered a one-year contract, but on his performances for most of this season, he might consider himself lucky to even have that.

Arsene Wenger said: "He has criticised his own form recently but the things you never question from Bacary are his commitment, his mental attitude, his desire to win and his intelligence.

"If he has not been playing as he would expect, it is down to his injury. It takes time to come back, and he has played through a lot of pain - in fact, he is one of the strongest players I have met when it comes to doing that. He's hugely respected here, and if he's not at the level we know he can achieve then we are tolerant because we know it's not down to a lack of commitment. It's just because he has come back from a long-term injury."

AND THE REST...
West Brom boss Steve Clarke has urged fans to give Peter Odemwingie a chance - for the good of the club...Michael Owen could land a new deal at Stoke without even starting a Premier League game...Chelsea have sealed a £1.7million deal to sign Chilean teenager Cristian Cuevas.

Please, please, please let the Ronaldo one be true. I know it isn't really, but I do have a very serious Jones (whatever that is) for him.
