ROONEY TO STAY
Quick one about that Wayne Rooney chap to start with.

Sir Alex Ferguson said, about his striker:

"There's no issue with his contract, when it has to be renegotiated it will be. We don't want players to leave."

It's absolutely the case that the more times Fergie repeats this, the more likely it is to be true.

Interestingly, The Sunday Times throws a new name into the mix for Rooney's signature - Bayern Munich.

CHEVROLET TO BUY RONALDO
Meanwhile, in The People, there's word that Manchester United are passing the had to new sponsors Chevrolet in order to fund a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Apparently Ronaldo is keen to return to United, and General Motors are equally keen to have a 'marquee' player to help them sell some cars.

And according to the paper, they are 'working with United's owners, the Glazer family, to help fund the Portuguese superstar's £55m transfer fee and £10m-a-year wages.'

TEVEZ TO...MONACO?
Interesting line in The Sunday Express, who report that Carlos Tevez could be off to Monaco in the summer.

The team from the principality are of course backed by uber-wealthy Russian man Dmitry Rybolovlev, and are heading to promotion from Ligue 2. And when that is secured, they seem to want to make something of a splash.

And that splash will be in the form of a £15million bid for Tevez, whose contract will only have a year to run in the summer and who wants to run said contract down.

Here's what Roberto Mancini had to say about his forward:

"Now it is important that Carlos continues to score because we need his goals until the end of the season. After that I don't know what commitment (there will be) in the summer. Carlos has another year contract. It depends on him.

"At the moment we can say nothing. Our focus should be only on the last two months. Carlos has said many times that he wants to come back to Argentina and it depends on him for this, but now we don't think about this situation."

BALE TO REAL
Hey, that rhymes!

The Sunday Mirror reports that Real Madrid are counting out the pennies and will put together a 'stunning £110million package' to sign Gareth Bale.

While Spurs are apparently set to make an awful mess of their wage structure to increase Bale's contract if they qualify for the Champions League, Real will offer him more, as well as a £60million transfer fee.

Apparently Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen.

Honestly when I read these rumours concocted by sports journalists I become more convinced that these press boys have very little between their ears - hey I can also be a journalist!
