MODRIC EYES MANCHESTER MOVE
He gave a little cameo performance to remind Manchester United what a proper creative central midfielder looks like when Real Madrid put them out of the Champions League last week and now 'it has emerged that the 27-year-old Croatia midfielder still harbours dreams of a move back to the Barclays Premier League with United'.

That's what the Daily Mail says anyway, and who are we to question the Daily Mail? Okay, okay, we do it every single sodding day. But stay with us for now...

They say: 'Modric was high on the wishlist of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson two summers ago as he tried to replace Paul Scholes. But United were put off by the prospect of another summer of haggling with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, with whom they clashed over the purchase of Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.'

It's fair to say that he's not been having the best of times at Real since making the £33m move to Madrid last summer and apparently he made it clear when he went to Manchester last week that he fancies a return.

PODOLSKI OFFSKI?
Arsenal are apparently facing a 'summer fight' (we're picturing hay-rolling) to keep hold of Lukas Podolski, according to The Sun. Juventus and Atletico Madrid are both said to be interested in the German, who has been on the bench for the Gunners' last four Premier League games.

Podolski cost Arsenal £10.9m in the summer and The Sun reckons that Juventus would be interested in paying £15m for his services. Maybe they don't expect their wingers to track back in Italy. Or maybe they would play him as a striker.

VALDES WANTED BY ARSENAL
'Barcelona expect Arsenal to bid for goalkeeper Victor Valdes in the summer,' according to the Daily Mail. Quite why Barcelona have told the Daily Mail this is anybody's guess, but they seem quite sure. Valdes will apparently cost around £8.5m when he leaves Barca this summer and he is top of the Gunners' list - just above Pepe Reina - of goalkeepers to replace Wojciech Szczesny.

AND THE REST
Tony Pulis is facing a big battle to keep his job as Stoke boss...Wolves have offered a new contract to leading scorer Sylvan Ebanks-Blake...Swindon are set to sign Tottenham pair Dean Parrett and Cristian Ceballos on loan deals...Chelsea are ready to rival Manchester City for St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang...UAE winger Omar Abdulrahman is on Manchester City's radar...West Ham are keeping tabs on Germany Under-21 striker Daniel Ginczek...Shefki Kuqi is in line for a return to Oldham - as manager...Everton are continuing to monitor FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer after scouts watched him against Vitesse Arnhem at the weekend.

I don't understand why podolski isn't given a chance to play through the middle... Probably our best finisher. And then we'd have Giroud if we need something different.
