SUAREZ HINTS AT LIVERPOOL EXIT
Uh-oh. Luis Suarez has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could be willing to listen to offers to leave Liverpool in the summer. The striker has been in superb form this season, notching 22 goals so far in the Premier League, but Liverpool's failure to remain in the race for a Champions League place raises serious questions over his future.
"I am very happy at Liverpool but you never know in football," said Suarez ahead of Uruguay's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay, as reported in the Liverpool Echo.
"If another team comes around with more prospects of competing in international club competition games, which is willing to have me, they are welcome.
"We would talk to the club, we would see if I want to go, if I don't want to go."
Juventus and Bayern Munich have both been linked with Suarez, who is valued at around £40million.
LIVERPOOL AND UNITED TARGET DEDE
Liverpool and Manchester United are set to enter a good old-fashioned transfer tug-of-war as they duke it out for Vasco Da Gama defender Dede.
The 24-year-old centre-back is tipped to secure a place in the Brazil team for the 2014 World Cup and will command a fee of around £15million.
According to the Mirror: 'Liverpool are ready to commit massive funds to take on Manchester United in the race to land the next Brazilian superstar.
'And his club, Vasco da Gama, have confirmed this week he WILL be sold in the summer.
'Speaking this week, Vasco director general Cristiano Koehler confirmed a decision has been taken to allow Dede to leave, given the debts the club must address to avoid the threat of bankruptcy.
'"We can't mislead the fans, we will find it very difficult to hold on to Dede because the club needs the resources, and at some point it will happen - by the middle of the year," the official explained.'
Liverpool have apparently already made contact with Dede's 'investors' after watching the defender several times over the past year, but United are also keen as they look to find a long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand.
CHELSEA PLOT TOURE BID
According to The Sun, Chelsea lead the race for Yaya Toure after the midfielder's agent claimed he was prepared to leave Manchester City unless the champions offer him a new contract by Saturday.
Toure still has two years remaining on his current deal, but is apparently prepared to buy out his £220,000-a-week contract after complaining of a 'lack of respect' shown to him by City.
The Sun claim Chelsea are now preparing to offer the 29-year-old a £22million signing-on fee that would cover his losses, but Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the situation.
The Sun report: 'Toure, 29, still has two years of his £220,000-a-week deal to run and will have to stump up £22m to buy his way out of City.
'Chelsea will hand him that in a signing-on fee if it means they do not have to pay a transfer fee for a player who cost City £25m from Barcelona three years ago.'
CHELSEA AND MAN CITY EYE MKHITARYAN
Shakhtar Donetsk's cut-and-paste playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan is attracting interest from Chelsea and Manchester City after declaring his intention to leave the Ukrainian champions in the summer.
Mkhitaryan impressed in the Champions League group stage as Shakhtar finished above Chelsea to reach the last 16. But it seems the 24-year-old's future lies away from Donetsk after he expressed his wish to find a new club.
"For every player, to play for the strongest clubs in the world is a dream, and the main goal," said Mkhitaryan.
"I will do everything possible to move this summer to a different team."
ARSENAL CHASE AMOREBIETA
According to the Express, Arsenal are in pole position to secure a deal for Fernando Amorebieta after the Athletic Bilbao defender rejected interest from Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Venezuela international is expected to leave Bilbao when his contract expires at the end of the season after refusing the club's final offer of a new deal in February.
"We have had contacts with Anzhi, who are very interested in his services, but given the desire to play in England, that move cannot take place," Amorebieta's brother told Marca.
"We are in contact with Arsenal."
WEIMANN'S AGENT DENIES INTER LINK
Now and then a transfer rumour swings in from left field and causes complete confusion at F365 Towers. Thomas Gravesen to Real Madrid, Julien Faubert to Real Madrid and Gary Breen to Barcelona are but a few that have stumped us over the years and the idea of Andreas Weimann joining Internazionale falls into the same bracket.
Although Weimann is only 21 and his recent performances for Aston Villa have been encouraging, it still seems far-fetched that he could leave the Premier League strugglers for the San Siro in the summer. The forward has scored six goals and contributed two assists in 22 top-flight matches this season - hardly enough to explain why Champions League hopefuls Inter would be interested in pursuing his signature.
Anyway, Weimann's agent Robert Groener has denied the rumour, saying: "At the moment there is nothing concrete. I have not had any contact with Marco Branca or any other Inter directors.
"His contract with Villa expires in 2014, so if they do not renew then he could be sold over the summer.
"Playing in Serie A? Obviously Serie A is less prestigious than the Premier League, but it would be an honour for Weimann to wear the jersey of an historic and prestigious club like Inter."
We're still scratching our heads.
