@gerard1979 I agree with you Suarez has been outstanding and he's a class player, but if you look the vast majority of RVP's goals came when we were also terrible in defence and leaking goals for fun and RVP turned out to get the match winning goals on many occasions. He has actually dried up now and luckily we've tightened up the defence. Even Rooney has contributed to more EPL points than Suarez with alot less minutes on the pitch.

Interesting comments from masmaz and terryphelan. If thats how it works then clearly the suggestion that Toure could actually try to buyout his contract is a load of rubbish as his agent said himself they ve been talking about a contact for 6 months so an offer must have been tabled.

The buy out only works if over 28, 3 years at club and no new offer. So little danger of ruining the transfer system at that age. My question is can't City just offer him a cr*p extension and scupper that clause? On another note refreshingly honest comment from Suarez: if a big club comes with a good offer I'll listen and who knows but I'm happy here.

In relation to the Toure situation; the player would have no more or less power than he has right now. The club still has the option to refuse a player buy-out of their contract. It just allows the club to move the player out a bit quicker without having to negotiatie with another club. Ultimately, it will change nothing as the club that owns the contracted player still has the final say so.

@fc_manc you comments on RVP's and Suarez goals are very simplistic. Suarez has been outstanding this season for Liverpool and his goals would have been worth more points if we had a better defence. If Van Persie scores the only goal in a Utd win you equate that to having been moa better performance than if he scores 4 in a draw!!

lordderak - Suarez would leave with most Liverpools fans blessings? Maybe if he signed for Juve, Milan, Madrid or another overseas team. What if it was United? Chelsea or City? I am pretty sure then we would be treated to some 'Suarez 7 shirt burning' on Sky Sports news. Lets be honest if you lose a top player, the most hurtful thing about it is who he signs for, ie a rival. Gallas gets stick off Chelsea fans as he left for Arsenal then Spurs, if he had gone abroad I am pretty sure he wouldnt have, and then you have Droga, a god at Chelsea but if he had signed for another premier league team when he left us then he wouldnt have been held in such high esteem.

@kernowpete- "does that not fundamentally render a professional players contract just a piece of paper saying how much they will get paid while they play for the club, and how much it will cost them to leave? "..Where have you been for the last ten years?

surprisedicare - I was more meaning the likes of Zaha at Palace or Hughes at Derby both worth millions to thier respective clubs but could have thier contract bought out for a fraction of any transfer fee. Both those clubs would be reliant on transfer fees coming in for thier players, Clubs like Crewe or Southampton who have made money to either keep afloat or push on through player sales surely would be greater affected than City who for all that it wouldn t be ideal would save 22 million in wages plus be paid out another 22 million from the buyout.

I think he would cut it at a bigger club, one that is competing in the Champions league. If Liverpool are a Jennifer Aniston, she'll likely be in some upcoming features but an Angelina Jolie is going to be a bigger draw in a bigger pool. Incidentally, would an Aniston want a Pitt if said Pitt states he wants to be with a Jolie. If Suarez wants to go cut your loses surely. KingKenny, inane drivel?, that my friend is a Suarez calling an Evra racist.

As people have said different media have concentrated on different areas of a larger interview. The first ones I read were from the Liverpool Echo who concentrated on his comments about the path Brendan Rodgers has guided in changing the way the team plays and how they have gotten better as the season progressed and will be better next season and used that as a sign he will be staying. Then other media outlets used the comments about a Champions League side coming in for him and said he wants to leave. I'm sure the truth is probably something like he has every intention of staying at the moment, however nobody know what will happen in the future and every player has his price.
