MAN UNITED CLOSE TO GARAY DEAL
The big gossip on Saturday is that Manchester United are closing in on a move for Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay.

The 26-year-old Argentina international is valued at around £15million and is thought to be keen on a move to Old Trafford where he is seen as a long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand.

According to The Mirror: 'Reports this week that Chelsea are also chasing the ex-Real Madrid centre-half have pushed Manchester United into action.

'United manager Ferguson has detailed his scouts to watch Garay for the past few months and they have now entered discussions with Benfica to land their man.

'Fergie is hopeful of getting his man this summer and the Premier League's champions-elect believe they are close to a deal.'

The Daily Star go one step further and say United have already agreed a £17million deal, with Garay presumably set to discuss terms when he returns from international duty.

ANZHI JOIN TOURE RACE
Firstly, it's worth noting the stinker of a headline The Daily Mail have used on their story linking Yaya Toure to Anzhi Makhachkala: 'Anzhi MakhachYaya...Super-rich Russian club eye up City's Toure after star's shock admission he wants to quit'.

Anzhi MakhachYaya. Christ.

Below that abomination is a rather predictable piece of transfer gossip linking Toure, a player who commands an enormous wage, with Anzhi, a club happy to pay enormous wages.

'The ambitious Russians have been alerted to news that the 29-year-old could be willing to leave unless discussions over a new contract are resolved,' report the Mail.

'Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been linked but both clubs would struggle to improve on Toure's current contract and pay a transfer fee of around £25m.

'That would leave the likes of Anzhi, Zenit St Petersburg and Paris Saint-Germain as the only other main candidates able to afford him.'

The Mail also claim City are tracking Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia as they seek a replacement for Toure. The 20-year-old would cost around £10million and has been watched by Real Madrid and Juventus this season.

SPURS CHASING OSVALDO
According to SHOUTsport, Spurs are eyeing a move for Roma forward Pablo Osvaldo. We'd love to see this happen - any player that can do this would be most welcome in the Premier League.

The only problem is that Roma are, somewhat unsurprisingly, reluctant to part with the 26-year-old.

Osvaldo's 'long-time friend and former representative Dario Decoud' told Sport Mediaset: "Osvaldo is very focused and wants to finish this season well.

"Pablo wants to repay the faith shown in him by [Coach Auerlio] Andreazzoli.

"I know for certainty that Roma consider him a key player and virtually non-transferable."

Well, they haven't met Daniel Levy yet.

NORWICH TO SIGN WOLFSWINKEL (TITTER)
Norwich have agreed to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel for an undisclosed fee on a four-year contract from July 1.

Chris Hughton told the club's official website: "Ricky's profile is a perfect fit for us - he's young, ambitious and a proven goalscorer.

"He has an excellent goalscoring pedigree and he's a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England. He's already an exciting talent but he still has more development as a player ahead of him.

"I'm delighted we've been able to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon and with Ricky and we look forward to welcoming him to the squad in July, once all of the paperwork gets sorted out."
