City to make £40m move for Manuel Neuer to replace Hart, Arsenal in for Coleman, Berba could leave Fulham...
ARSENAL'S SUAREZ BID REJECTED
There was talk about this last week, with the bookies slashing odds on Luis Suarez going to Arsenal, but we dismissed it as bunkum. However, The Times (and indeed several other papers) seems to think it's a real thing.
The paper reports that Arsenal had a £30million bid for Luis Suarez rejected, and they are currently mulling over whether to go back in for the Uruguayan.
The Times claims: 'However, the chances of the Uruguay international moving to Arsenal appear almost non-existent, not least because Liverpool would be loath to allow Suárez to join a rival Premier League club, even in the event of them receiving a greatly improved offer.
'If nothing else, Arsenal's bid is likely to attract the attention of the Real hierarchy and provide a test of their interest in Suárez.'
And there perhaps lies the key. Some 2+2=5 thinking suggests that Arsenal may have made the offer in an attempt to smoke out Real, thus hurrying the Gonzalo Higuain negotiations along.
Of course, the Higuain deal might go ahead anyway, and Arsenal may actually think they can get Suarez.
In this summer when Arsenal are actually spending money, it's frankly anyone's guess.
VILLA HEADING TO SPURS
The Daily Mirror seem pretty confident that David Villa is going to sign for Spurs pretty soon.
The paper claims an agreement with the player has been reached, but Spurs haven't agreed a fee with Barcelona.
The Mirror reports: 'Tottenham's offer to Barca, however, has not yet met the £8.6million asking price that the Spanish champions are demanding.
'Spurs chairman Daniel Levy believes he can drive the price down as Barca want to get Villa off the wage bill now that he has been deemed surplus to requirements.'
Meanwhile, The Mirror also reckons Spurs want Real Madrid winger Jese Rodriguez, who wants out.
He said: "I want to play, and I don't know if I'll get many minutes in the Real Madrid first team.
"I don't know what the club wants with me. I assume they will want to offer me a renewal but I don't know what I will do. I'm not going to lie about it."
BENT OFF FOR £5M
The price for Darren Bent keeps going down.
The Sun reports that Aston Villa will take £5million for their striker, so keen are they to get him off their wage bill.
Apparently Newcastle, Hull and Fulham are all interested.
CHELSEA TO GAZUMP LIVERPOOL FOR ILORI?
Quick line from The Daily Mirror, who report that Jose Mourinho is mulling over a move for Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori.
Liverpool have apparently made two unsuccessful offers for the centre-back, with Sporting looking for £8.5million for their man.
The paper claims: 'They could now see their efforts hijacked by Chelsea although the player is understood to want regular first-team football which could work in Liverpool's favour.'
Meanwhile, The Mirror reckons Liverpool have an alternative in mind for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who seems to be heading to Borussia Dortmund.
They claim Liverpool will make a move for £7.5million-rated midfielder Jorginho, an Italian under-21 international who plays for Hellas Verona.
