ARSENAL BACK IN FOR SUAREZ
Well, this one isn't going away.
The Guardian reports that Arsenal are 'determined to test Liverpool's resolve' over Luis Suarez.
Liverpool rather understandably don't want to sell to another side in England, and according to the latest reports will only start thinking about such a sale if a bid of £40million is lodged.
Arsenal's new offer will apparently be in the region of £35million, a potential move that will delay the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, despite a move apparently being agreed in principle.
The Guardian reports, of Suarez: 'The striker has issued several messages about his future via the Uruguayan media and, in spite of his affection for Liverpool, he has reached a stage in his career where he wants to play in the Champions League. His willingness to entertain the notion of a transfer to another Premier League club has been surprising, given his insistence that he has been victimised by the mediain this country.'
NEW DEAL FOR GERRARD
In better news for Liverpool fans, The Daily Mail reports that Steven Gerrard is all set to sign a new contract.
Gerrard is entering the final year of his current deal, and even though at this stage of his career there's no realistic prospect of him going anywhere else, and after talks between the club and his agent a contract is close.
UNITED IN FOR CESC?
Interesting one in The Independent this morn, who report that Manchester United have turned their attentions to Cesc Fabregas after losing out on Thiago Alcantara.
However, the paper doesn't sound especially confident that the deal will happen.
The Indy says: 'The Premier League club face a tough battle if they are to secure the 26-year-old midfielder, though. The loss of Thiago to the Bundesliga champions will reduce Barcelona's inclination to sell and United would need to find in the order of £34m if they are to secure the former Arsenal player's services.
'There has been an acceptance at United that Fabregas is the type of player the club need as they enter a new era under the management of David Moyes. Ryan Giggs is expected to play a lesser on-field role, having become a player-coach this summer, Paul Scholes has retired and Darren Fletcher's comeback date is unclear.'
ROONEY OFF IN A YEAR?
Quick one from The Times, who say that Wayne Rooney might be sold by Manchester United - next year.
Apparently Rooney has been told that his future won't be addressed for another 12 months, as David Moyes 'wants to see how Rooney performs next season before the club discuss the possibility of a new contract.'
Of course, by that point Rooney will only have another year on his contract, thus decreasing his value rather should Moyes decide to get rid.
