EVERTON & QPR IN FOR SISSOKO
There's a bit of stuff about Gareth Bale in the papers, but it's nothing particularly ground-breaking and frankly we'd like a break from writing about him.
So let's start with a completely new rumour in The Daily Express, or rather a new rumour that the Express have nicked from France Football.
They report that both Everton and QPR are keen on former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko, currently at PSG but deemed surplus to requirements because they have jazzed more money than Scrooge McDuck has in his vault on various other shiny players.
His contract expires at the end of the season and with PSG keen to get rid, he should be available for a very reasonable price.
UNITED MAKE NEW CESC BID
Still, we need to keep up our saga quota, so here's something about Cesc Fabregas.
David De Gea is quoted by The Daily Express, via Marca, as saying: "He will have to make the decision as to whether he wants to stay (at Barcelona) or join us. It would be a very good signing and he would help us to improve greatly."
Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror says United are set to make one final offer for Cesc, trying to force through a move for around £35million, plus add-ons.
However: 'Barcelona have indicated they will be forced to turn down any offer from the English club, because of the fiendishly complicated clauses agreed when they bought the player from Arsenal in 2011.
'Instead, the Spanish giants are considering allowing Fabregas to buy out his own contract for a set fee - which would circumvent an agreement made with the Gunners that gives them the option to re-sign the player for £25m should Barca agree to sell him to any other club.
'That buy-out figure though, is likely to be set at £48m, which leaves United a long way short of what the club has indicated will be their final offer for the former Arsenal man.'
BENT NOT KEEN ON TOON MOVE
Here's a paragraph from The Daily Telegraph that might make Newcastle fans cry, about a prospective move for Darren Bent:
'Bent and his agent are understood to have been far from impressed following a meeting with Newcastle's Director of Football Joe Kinnear, who suggested he would only offer Aston Villa £2m for the England international.'
According to a few other places, he's off to Fulham.
BARCA BID FOR LUIZ
Quick one from The Daily Mirror, who report that 'centre-half hungry Barcelona' are set to make a new bid for David Luiz.
The paper claims: 'Brazil star Luiz has been top of Barca's wish-list all summer as they look to bring in a new centre-half.
'The Spanish champions' president, Sandro Rosell, has made discreet enquiries - and they will follow up with a bid if given any encouragement.'
Apparently Barca won't go above £30million, which makes a deal sound rather unlikely to us.
