REAL INTEREST IN BALE COOLING?
Ah, now this is interesting.
The Daily Telegraph reports that real Madrid's interest in Gareth Bale isn't quite as red hot as it might be. It's 'cooling', you could say.
Apparently the shift occurred after Carlo Ancelotti made it clear to Florentino Perez that Bale wasn't an integral part of his plans for the coming season.
The paper claims: 'Ancelotti's comments, which are understood to have been made in a meeting with Pérez at the end of the club's US tour, follow Cristiano Ronaldo's refusal to publicly endorse the signing last week and a change in public opinion in Madrid.'
However, Spurs fans can't relax just yet. If they believe all of this of course.
'Real's position could prompt Manchester United to formalise their interest in Bale - who has been ruled out of Wales' friendly international with Republic of Ireland, despite training with Chris Coleman's squad on Monday morning - following the Old Trafford club's failure to prise Ronaldo from the Bernabéu.'
However, The Daily Mirror reckons Ancelotti is actually keen to 'relaunch' talks, so believe what you like.
LIVERPOOL IN FOR WILLIAN
Here's an ambitious one.
The Sun reports that Liverpool are in the mix for Brazilian playmaker Willian, as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez. Or as well as him.
Apparently a 'top source' told the paper that Liverpool are keen on the Anzhi man, who will of course have to be sold as the Russians cut their cloth.
Spurs will seemingly be in if Gareth Bale goes, while Zenit St Petersburg and Shakhtar Donetsk are also keen, it says here.
SPEAKING OF LIVERPOOL...
...they are also said to be looking at a loan move for Bayern Munich left-back Diego Contento, but it depends on whether Arsenal get Luiz Gustavo.
Apparently Bayern will only let one of the players leave, so if Gustavo signs for Arsenal then it's no dice for Liverpool.
The good news for Liverpool is that a) this is Arsenal and b) Napoli and Wolfsburg are thought to be keen as well.
Gustavo himself sounds keen on Arsenal, mind.
"My contract with Bayern runs until 2015 but it is very important that I play first-team football to keep getting called up for Brazil," Gustavo told reporters on his arrival in Basel for Brazil's friendly against Switzerland.
"I am in a very delicate situation at Bayern and this needs sorting out. I have personal and professional reasons to move.
"I have heard about the Arsenal interest. It's a big club we're talking about here so of course I'd like to play for them.
"Arsenal play a very attractive brand of football and are in the Champions League. They also have a very clever manager in Arsene Wenger.
"Even when Bayern beat them in the last Champions League [on aggregate] you could see they are not pushovers."
ETO'O AFTER CHELSEA MOVE
It seems Samuel Eto'o would fancy a move to Chelsea, as rumoured over the last few days.
"There is only one Jose Mourinho. I have played under a lot of great coaches - but there is no other character in the game like Jose," Eto'o is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.
"He is one of the best coaches in the world - and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again - because it is never boring when Jose is around.
"Of course Chelsea are a great team - and when we have all the offers on the table then I will discuss with my agent and see what my next step is."
PALACE IN FOR BENT
Quick line from a couple of papers, who suggest that Crystal Palace are keen on a loan move for Darren Bent.
Newcastle are also sniffing around, but Palace would appear to be in the lead on this one.
Palace completed the signing of Marouane Chamakh on a one-year deal on Monday eve.
