WILLIAN OR OZIL FOR UNITED...
Manchester United desperately need a central midfielder, right? So it makes absolute perfect sense that they are reportedly chasing attacking midfielders like there's no tomorrow. It's almost like they're desperate to sign a big name to placate the fans and at this stage just about anyone will do.
So the Daily Mail claim they have 'entered the race' to sign attacking Brazilian midfielder Willian, who is available for around £30m in the Anzhi Makhachkala fire sale. The man himself seems interested in Liverpool but apparently 'Old Trafford is believed to be Willian's preferred destination'.
But it doesn't end there. The Mail also claims that United are 'being offered Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil for £40m' though 'Ozil's representatives have made it clear he would welcome a move to United and that Madrid could accept £35m as they look to fund a world-record bid for Bale'.
Luka Modric would make some sense but Ozil? And Willian? What was that we said about Arsenal trying to buy a big f*** off TV when they need a fridge?
OSVALDO TO SPURS
Yesterday's Italian newspapers said that Roma had agreed a deal to sell Pablo Osvaldo to Southampton but that the Argentine-born Italian striker was not keen to swap Rome for a survival battle on the south coast. Funny that. The Sun claim today that Tottenham have stepped in and will wrap up the £15m signing of the Roma man today. Yes, they are actually say 'today'.
Osvaldo's record for Roma is pretty phenomenal with 27 goals in 55 Serie A games but surely Spurs won't sign Osvaldo, Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic from Roma?
ARSENAL MUST DOUBLE WILLIAMS BID
Arsenal have been doing some kind of interpretative dance version of a typical Arsenal transfer summer and it continues with the Daily Mirror's revelation that they have only offered £6m for Swansea defender Ashley Williams. Frankly, that is ridiculous - Cardiff have just paid £8m for Steven Caulker, for God's sake.
It seems Swansea want £12m for Williams. And quite rightly so.
