United & Chelsea in for Mosquito, Moncao want Kompany, Barca back in for Luiz, Arsenal & Liverpool duke it out...
DI MARIA CHASE HOTS UP
Aside from pages and pages dedicated to Gareth Bale, Marca are reporting that Arsenal will duke it out with Manchester United and PSG for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.
The 25-year-old has declared his intention to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, but it seems Real president Florentino Perez is keen to sell Di Maria in order to recoup some of the £90m it will cost to sign Bale.
The Argentinian is valued at around £34m and grabbed 11 goals and 11 assists in 55 appearances for Real last season.
Apparently United have also joined the race for Fabio Coentrao after cooling their interest in Leighton Baines, while Spurs are also keen on the Portuguese despite struggling to neogitatie a part-exchange deal with Madrid.
UNITED TO BID £30M FOR OZIL
Considering how important Mesut Ozil has been to Real Madrid over the last three years, it seems unlikely that he'll be allowed to leave this summer.
However, talk of a move to Manchester United has persisted, with the Daily Star reporting that the champions will make a £30m offer for the playmaker after finally giving up their public pursuit of Cesc Fabregas.
According to the Star: '(Ozil) knows he is on borrowed time once Gareth Bale arrives in a world record deal from Tottenham.
'He is desperate to find a new club to boost his hopes of making Germany's World Cup squad and Old Trafford is his preferred destination.'
It would be some coup for David Moyes if he can pull this off.
ARSENAL HOPES HANG ON SUAREZ
After accepting defeat in their own move for Luis Suarez, Arsenal are now hoping the striker joins Real Madrid, which would facilitate the Gunners' bid for Karim Benzema.
"That's part of the fact you need three agreements for anybody," said Arsene Wenger. "It's true that it is sometimes connected with other clubs. But we have to accept that."
The Guardian claim that Benzema is reluctant to leave Real, while Liverpool are determined to hold on to Suarez despite the striker's desire to move to Spain.
Essentially, Liverpool refused to sell Suarez to Arsenal for fear of strengthening a direct rival in the race for a Champions League place, and they presumably view selling Suarez to Madrid - which in turn would allow Arsenal to sign Benzema - as tantamount to the same thing.
On his failed bid for Suarez, Wenger has been typically philosophical: "We have to get on with our lives. You've certainly tried to go out with a girl and find she has chosen someone else. You don't commit suicide."
Oh, Arsene, you old romantic.
CHELSEA TURN TO MARTINEZ
According to The Times, Chelsea have lined up prolific Porto striker Jackson Martinez as an alternative to Wayne Rooney.
Jose Mourinho admitted this week that he has a Plan B and Plan C should Chelsea fail with a third and final bid for Rooney and it seems Martinez has joined Samuel Eto'o on the manager's shortlist.
Martinez was strongly linked with a move to Napoli earlier in the summer, but the Serie A side refused to pay the Colombian's €40m release clause after he was signed by Porto for just £8m 12 months ago.
Martinez bagged 29 goals in 28 appearances for Porto last year, including three in the Champions League.
