Chelsea on 'red alert' for Rooney, Carvalho for United, Toivonen for Liverpool and Ince/Lamela Spurs nonsense...
WHO WANTS RAMI?
Basically, the presence of actual, real-life football means there's sod all gossip in the papers so we turn to Spain first of all and the claim that Valencia have transfer-listed centre-half Adil Rami after he spoke out against coach Miroslav Djukic. Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser on Tuesday evening, Rami said: "In the dressing room there is only confusion since we lost [Roberto] Soldado, [Alberto] Costa and [David] Albelda. Djukic doesn't say things to your face."
The club's reaction is apparently to make him available in January, with Manchester City, Arsenal and Barcelona touted as possible destinations. They wanted £8m for the Frenchman in the summer but they might take less in January.
And that's the best gossip we have.
MATA MOVING BACK?
Onto the Metro now (yes, we know) and their claim that 'Valencia are lining up an ambitious move to re-sign Juan Mata from Chelsea during the January transfer window'. Ambitious would certainly be the word as they have been plagued with financial problems since time began, leading directly to them selling Mata to Chelsea in the first place.
We suspect that, should Mata become available in January, he will have a few other suitors - Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City for starters.
POYET ON HOLD?
He's the choice of director of football Roberto De Fanti, apparently, but Sunderland owner Ellis Short - burned by a procession of poor managers - is taking time to be convinced about appointing former Brighton boss Gus Poyet.
On Wednesday, Poyet said: "My opportunity to manage Sunderland is there. I'm waiting. Nervously. Since the start of the season, I've dedicated myself to watching the games of teams that might call me if things weren't going too well."
He must have loved West Brom v Sunderland.
