SUAREZ STILL WANTS MADRID MOVE
Uh-oh, this could be bad news for Liverpool. Despite talk of the Reds plotting a new contract for Luis Suarez, the striker is apparently still holding out for a move to Real Madrid.
It was widely reported that the La Liga side agreed a deal with Suarez in the summer, before pulling out of negotiations with Liverpool to finalise Gareth Bale's world-record transfer.
However, Suarez's Uruguay teammate Edinson Cavani says the forward is hopeful a move to Madrid can be resurrected.
"He is the most complete striker in England - and one of the most complete strikers in the world. Ability and confidence is no issue for him, he will score a lot of goals this season I am sure," said Cavani.
"I am sure Liverpool fans are very happy Luis stayed - he will be a big player for them. I think Arsenal was not Luis's dream move, maybe if it had been Real Madrid then it would have been a different outcome - but of course Madrid were concentrating on a different target this summer.
"It is his dream club - and a club he thinks is worth waiting for."
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool will demand around £55million for Suarez if Madrid come calling in January.
MOYES DOESN'T EXPECT TO SPEND BIG
It says a lot about Manchester United's wretched summer transfer business that David Moyes is already talking about the January window.
The manager said he wants "one or two" players to go straight into the first team last week, but he has now followed up those remarks by warning fans that he isn't planning to splash the cash when the window re-opens.
"I'll look at January but I wouldn't want people to have big expectations about what you would sign or do in January because I don't think January has in the main been a really good month to sign really at the top," said Moyes.
"If you're in trouble near the bottom of the league you might if you're desperate for something but I think where we'll be with Manchester United we'll be looking for the top.
"I've got really, really top end players, great players to work with. But undoubtedly we will in time try to make that better, that's the part of the job. The job is to progress, to make progress at Man United. We'll look to add to the squad if the right players become available."
