HUGHES A TARGET FOR MOYES?
This column was at Derby on Saturday and saw Will Hughes for the first time in the flesh - he's really rather good, you know, one of those players who instinctively knows what he will do with the ball even before he receives it. And he's still only 18. Anyway, new Derby boss Steve McClaren said after the game that he was under no pressure to sell Hughes in January, but that resolve might be tested by Manchester United.
According to various newspapers this morning, David Moyes has his beady eyes on Hughes as he attempted to add a bit of creativity to his midfield. Not that he'll actualy play him, mind.
VIDIC A JUVE TARGET
It was in Italian paper Tuttosport yesterday and has found its way into The Sun today - Juventus are said to be readying a January move for Nemanja Vidic thought to be worth £8m. United are said to be reluctant to let him leave but they might be forced into selling if the Serb dallies over signing a new contract. Juventus director general Beppe Marotta is said to be optimistic of closing a deal with Vidic's agent Silvano Martina, who already has a good relationship with the Italian club.
SKRTEL BACK TO ZENIT...AGAIN
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is back on Zenit St Petersburg's radar for about the zilionth time since he signed for the Reds from the Russian club, according to the Daily Mirror. Apparently, 'he Russian club have set aside around £16million to land a new central defender in the New Year - and old boy Skrtel is one of the names on their list'. We suspect they can have him at that price.
