ARSENAL'S POTENTIAL NEW RIGHT-BACK IS...
Genoa right back Sime Vrsaljko, according to the Daily Mirror. He is Croatian, just 21 and is already attracting interest from Inter Milan despite only joining Genoa in the summer. Arsene Wenger 'has detailed his scouts to be on red alert for a new right-back' as Bacary Sagna is in the final year of his contract and will not be short of offers next summer. We would politely suggest he glances up to Everton and Seamus Coleman instead.
GUZAN WANTS VILLA STAY
Last summer Brad Guzan was released by Aston Villa but Paul Lambert came into the club, gave him a new deal and made him his first-choice keeper. Guzan has not forgotten and has apparently pledged his future to the Midlands club despite reported interest (which began in the United States) from Arsenal.
Talking of Arsenal and goalkeepers, The Sun claim that Arsenal have beaten Everton to Bristol Rovers' 18-year-old keeper Matt Macey.
HOLLOWAY FACING AXE
'Ian Holloway is under massive pressure to improve the results at Crystal Palace - or face the axe,' says the Daily Mirror. 'Palace's hierarchy are realistic and know it will be a struggle but they want to see an improvement in results and Holloway's post match comments have been increasingly gloomy about their prospects.'
Holloway probably hasn't endeared himself to the club's board by bring in about 427 players in the transfer window but forgetting to bring in defenders.
