SAMI AND JOSE SITTING IN A TREE
Nick Miller has written this week about the love affair between Jose Mourinho and John Terry, but the latter might have a rival for his man's affections if Sami Khedira has his way. Spanish newspaper AS says that Mourinho intends to get Khedira 'at any cost' and the German is said to be desperate to sit down with Mourinho and talk about a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United and Arsenal are both said to be interested in Khedira but he wants a reunion with Mourinho, under whom he played his best football at Real Madrid. The Spanish club are said to be willing to let him leave for a cool £40m. Which is definitely within Jose's budget of 'at any cost'.
MATUIDI TO ENGLAND?
PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi could be on his way to the Premier League next summer, if L'Equipe are to be believed. They claim that Manchester City and Chelsea are both monitoring the progress of the French international midfielder's contract negotiations at PSG, with a view to completing a pre-contract agreement in January for a free transfer next summer.
Matuidi and Khedira? Now that sounds like an upgrade on Ramires and Frank Lampard to us.
PHELAN: WE WOULD HAVE...
You have probably read these quotes elsewhere but here's former Manchester United asisstant Mike Phelan being a big tease: "If Sir Alex and David Gill had still been the bosses, I won't name the player, but there would have been a star signing, one of the absolute best players in the world. It was something the boss talked about, and the owners and David Gill were also quite clear on doing it.
"There's very few of such players out there. I think it's clear to everybody who I'm talking about. We didn't see the need for a big clear-out of the squad, that's why Sir Alex and I had the one big signing in sight. One such star signing gives everybody a lift, we saw that with Robin van Persie."
Ronaldo? Gareth Bale? Leighton Baines?

£40m for Khedira is insane. I'd rather have Mikel grow a beard and his hair and change his name to Obi John Khedira. And then when you say his name to him he can look away slightly, and go "...Obi John Khedira? Obi John...now that's a name I've not heard in a long time, a long time..."- tk421
