United in for Bundesliga pair Draxler and Reus, Chelsea to be offered Mario Mandzukic and Cole to Real Madrid...
ARSENAL EYEING STRIKERS
'Arsenal are monitoring Karim Benzema, Edin Dzeko and Javier Hernández in the hope of still making a major signing in January,' claims the Daily Telegraph as we start getting excited about a January window that could see all the top clubs thinking 'if we can just spend a few quid, we could win this here title'. The Gunners definitely need another striker but, as the Telegraph quite correctly notes, neither Manchester club is likely to help Arsenal strengthen their hand in January by seling Hernandez or Dzeko.
More likely might be Benzema, who will have just 18 months of his Real Madrid contract to run in January and could be available for around £30m. An alternative is a short-term option and the Daily Mail's suggestion that long-term Arsenal target Salomon Kalou could join in January for just £2.5m sounds like the kind of deal that might appeal to Arsene Wenger. At least he's better than Nicklas Bendtner. Probably.
ROONEY TO SIGN £53M DEAL
It worked then. After making it clear that he wanted to leave Manchester United (again), he has since started to run around a lot more (again) and will be rewarded with a massive new contract (again). This latest deal will tie him to United for the next four years and will earn him around £53m. Will he then get away with it a third time? Probably.
UNITED TO FAIL ON REUS
The Daily Mail are reporting it as David Moyes 'facing more transfer frustration' as they pass on rumours from Germany that Borussia Dortmund have given Manchester City short shrift when they enquired about Marco Reus and Manchester United are likely to fare little better when they ask about that £29.4m clause in January. Apparently the German club are ready to sit down with Reus and discuss a new deal, presumably without such an attractive release clause.
United are also said to be interested in Ilkay Gundogan - revealed by Rene Meulensteen as his recommended buy to Sir Alex Ferguson - but Real Madrid are likely to win that particular race.
But the good news - according to the Daily Mirror - is that United are apparently scouting Sporting Lisbon winger Carlos Mane, and he's been tearing it up for their B team. He could be another Ronaldo. Or another Nani.
