CITY IN FOR NEUER
So, Joe Hart's a write-off, it seems. That's if you believe the papers, or more specifically The Sunday Express.
The paper claims that City have decided to make a move for a new goalie, and what a goalie.
The Express reports Manuel Pellegrini is planning a 'word record' move for Manuel Neuer.
Apparently City will bid £40million for the Bayern Munich keeper, seemingly under the impression that they can tempt the German giants to sell, and the keeper away from Bavaria.
The paper claims: 'City owners would have to part with a minimum of £40million to secure the 6ft 4in Bayern Munich star. Insiders say he will be offered a weekly wage of £105,000, which would make him the highest-paid stopper in football. It is likely City will make their move in the next 12 months as Neuer, 28, will be examining his deal with Bayern.'
We're going to say the chances of this one happening are slim.
ARSENAL IN FOR COLEMAN
Bacary Sagna's contract is up for negotiation at present, as it runs out at the end of the season.
And if he goes, it seems Arsenal have a plan - that's if you believe the Sunday People, anyway.
Seamus Coleman is that plan, apparently, with Arsenal targeting the Everton right-back for something like £10million.
The paper claims: 'Wenger admires Coleman's skills and non-stop running, but would still rather keep Sagna than splash out on a replacement.'
They also inform us that Arsenal are looking at Michy Batshuayi, a 20-year-old Belgian striker from Standard Liege, and that Emmanuel Frimpong will be released at the end of the season.
AND SPEAKING OF BATSHUAYI...
...here he is, as quoted by Sky Sports.com:
"I don't think I think will be playing in Belgium next season. My parents, especially my dad, think I'm ready for the next step.
"This summer there was some interest, but I decided I didn't want to leave Standard without leaving a trace - being champion or being top scorer.
"I've two dreams clubs in Europe - Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund. Borussia because of their mix between quality and spirit, Arsenal because they give opportunities to young and talented players."
RENE WON'T BLOCK BERBA MOVE
Quick line from Rene Meulensteen, who had the following to say about Dimitar Berbatov:
"I will never stand in the way of people's ambitions. He is an immense player that I think any manager would want in his team - especially me.
"I've worked with Dimitar for so long. I'm one of his biggest fans because I know what he can do.
"I witnessed it every day on the training pitch at Manchester United.
"I had a really good chat with him. But we spoke about him as a player and the most important thing for me is to focus on the next few games up to January, no more."
