MAN UNITED WANT GUNDOGAN
Now, this would be an impressive signing. According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are plotting a £24million swoop for Ilkay Gundogan in a bid to turn their season around.
The 23-year-old played a pivotal role in Borussia Dortmund's route to the Champions League final last season and scored a penalty in the defeat to Bayern Munich at Wembley.
'United boss David Moyes is an admirer of Gundogan and is keen to land the 23-year-old Germany international this month,' report the Mirror.
'Although Gundogan has not played for the Bundesliga side side since August because of a back injury, that has not the Red Devils off pursuing him.
'It is understood that Gundogan's representatives have held talks with United, who are desperate to bolster their midfield options.'
Dortmund are keen for Gundogan to commit to a new contract with only 18 months remaining on his current deal, but United's interest could turn the midfielder's head.
FULHAM EYE DOUBLE RAID ON HAMMERS
According to the Daily Express, Fulham are considering a £7.5million move for West Ham midfielders Ravel Morrison and Mohamed Diame.
It's certainly an ambitious plan, but Rene Meulensteen might be quietly confident of capturing Morrison after working with the England Under-21 star at Manchester United.
Report the Express: 'Fulham can only afford a maximum of around £4m for Morrison, which is unlikely to be accepted by West Ham, who may consider cashing in on the England Under-21 star to bankroll moves elsewhere in the transfer window.
'But Fulham are still intent on testing the water with an offer. Diame has a buy-out clause of £3.5m in his contract, but the Senegalese midfielder has been unsettled at Upton Park for some time, holding out for a new contract worth around £75,000 a week.'
Actually, this is never going to happen, is it?
ARSENAL CONSIDER GOURCUFF AND GIOVINCO
More interesting gossip from the Daily Express now, who list Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff and Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco as the latest names on Arsene Wenger's January shopping list.
Gourcuff has been linked with Arsenal many times in the past, but it's thought that Lyon are finally prepared to do business for a fee between £4million and £8million as they look to shift the French international's high wages.
Meanwhile: 'Reports in Italy suggest that Arsenal have also held preliminary talks with Juventus over a move for Sebastian Giovinco.'
The 26-year-old has only made eight appearances in Serie A this season, scoring one goal.
