LIVERPOOL WON'T PAY SALAH MONEY
After Saturday, Liverpool might be better served looking at defensive-minded players, but it's back to Basel winger Mohamed Salah that they will turn this week, according to the Daily Telegraph. They claim that a 'formal bid' will be made this week but that 'the valuation of £12m has been prohibitive'. The report goes on to claim that Brendan Rodgers would 'ideally' like to add a defender to his squad as well this January. A left-back, we presume.
LIVERPOOL WANT TANKOVIC
"Fulham are very pleased with Tankovic and consider him to be a big prospect for the future," Fabio Alho told Sportbladet last week. "They certainly want to keep him. We will meet them and negotiate."
Who is Tankovic? He's the 18-year-old Swedish attacking midfielder (first name, Muamer) who currently plays for Fulham. And according to The Sun, Liverpool are one of his many admirers. Tat's all we've got. It's that kind of day.
You will have read this extensively elsewhere by now but we'll go to the Daily Telegraph for their version of a story that is gathering pace in France: 'Paris Saint Germain are considering a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye which could see the French giants offer as much as £26m.' Anything more than £20m would be a good deal for Newcastle as Cabaye clearly wants to leave and Newcastle have little to gain from keeping him at the club as his value plummets.
It could all hinge on Newcastle buying a replacement in Remy Cabella from Montpelier, whose coach has tried to put him off the move this weekend by saying: "They are not a big club. And I hope another club tries to buy him. As a player I would not even want to spend a week there [Newcastle]."
