Liverpool to make record bid for Ross Barkley, Stones off to London, Arsenal want double Real Madrid swoop...

Tim Sherwood has admitted that it will be 'goodbye Charlie' if Tottenham do not reach the Champions League and it seems like Louis van Gaal might be the new Charlie if that happens. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy apparently 'wants a world-class manager to turn his club into title challengers' and that world-class manager is likely to be the man who says he will quit the Dutch national job after the World Cup. At least according to the Daily Express.

"Look at my CV. I have won a trophy every season during my club career," Van Gaal said. "I am a winner and craving a trophy. This is why I am sick of being a national coach. I only see the players eight times a year. I am not enjoying the job of national coach at all. After the World Cup I want to coach a big club again and win trophies. Otherwise I will retire."

Those drums appear to be calling the Porto midfielder in the direction of the Etihad as the Daily Star claims that Manchester City 'believe they have won the battle to sign Porto's Fernando in the summer for free', having refused to pay £8m for his services in January. Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus are all said to be interested in the 26-year-old 'but City are privately claiming he wants to join them', according to the Daily Star.

This one has come from Tuttosport in Italy, who claim that Juventus could rival Manchester United for the signature of Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos, who was pursued by David Moyes in the January transfer window.

'With United's place in next season's Champions League hanging in the balance, the emergence of the Old Lady as an alternative destination could leave Moyes' summer transfer plans in tatters,' says the Daily Mirror.

United were linked with a £100m move for Juventus pair Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba, Southampton's Luke Shaw and Joel Veltman of Ajax in the Mail on Sunday. We think it's fair to say they can forget that plan after Sunday.

@keybo83 - given you've engaged me, and with an opening line of "what's your problem?" I'd say that you're more of the troll. I haven't even mentioned Liverpool, nor compared them to Spurs but I reserve the right to express MY opinion that Spurs are a joke club, an opinion that I've formed over the last 35+ years of watching football. With all the crap that's gone on at Liverpool since the Souness era you are welcome (and some would say entitled) to think the same of my beloved club, and that is also your right. That's the beauty of not living in Iran, so lets all just get along :-)
