ROONEY SET FOR 'BUMPER' NEW DEAL
In this case, bumper might not really do this one justice.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Wayne Rooney is set to sign a new four-and-a-half-year contract that will earn him a simply mind-boggling £300,000-a-week - around £70million over the course of the deal.

Yowch.

The 'world exclusive' actually doesn't tell us a huge amount more than we were told in previous stories about this deal, as reported by various papers at the tail end of the transfer window, when we all thought that the Juan Mata signing made much more sense if they were going to bin Rooney off eventually.

Still, the story does seem to 'confirm' the news that Rooney will become United captain when Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leave in the summer.

A 'club source' told The Sun: "Moyes see him as the cornerstone of a rebuilt United."

Good lord.

UNITED ALSO MOVE FOR REUS & GUNDOGAN
Looks like it will be a busy ol' summer for United.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Moyes also wants to buy a few Germans in the summer too - specifically Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan and Toni Kroos.

The paper claims: 'United's chances of doing business with Dortmund have been lifted by the interest that last season's Champions League finalists are showing in Shinji Kagawa.

'The Japanese international won successive Bundesliga titles with Dortmund before moving to Manchester for £16million in 2012, but he has made little impact at United and his failure to impress Moyes has opened the door for a return to his former club.

'Gundogan, who has been sidelined for six months with a back injury, is a more realistic target for the Reds than Reus.

'The German international is moving towards the final year of his contract and his agent father , Irfan, has said his son will be open to offers.'

Cue a summer of fretting about whether David Moyes should be allowed to spend this much money.

JOSE WANTS SHAW & CAVANI
Another busy puppy could well be Jose Mourinho, and The Sunday Mirror reports that he wants to get his business done early.

The paper claims Mourinho wants to sign Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw before the World Cup, because apparently he'll be off working for the World Food Programme in the summer, and he would like stuff sorted before that. What a guy.

The Mirror reports: 'Cavani is unsettled playing in a wide role at PSG, and it is believed his representatives have sounded out potential buyers, with Chelsea at the front of the queue.

'A deal for Cavani would probably need to break the £50million British transfer record fee Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres three years ago.

'But Chelsea will partially fund the deal by off-loading Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba in the summer.'

MICAH A WANTED MAN
Quick line from The Sun on Sunday, who report that Micah Richards will be sold in the summer, and there are a few candidates to buy him.

The paper claims Liverpool are interested, while Roberto Mancini is also interested in taking him to Galatasaray.

It also says here that AC Milan are keen, which we would dismiss, but then again they signed Adel Taarabt recently, so all bets are off with that lot.
