The Push Gossip

Vidal, Blind and De Jong next for United, Arsenal back in for Billy Carvalho, Remy also on Wenger's radar and...

This story has been doing the rounds for weeks but of course The Sun are claiming it as an exclusive this morning: 'PATRICE EVRA is set to join team-mate Nemanja Vidic at Inter Milan.' There is absolutely nothing new in the story that we haven't already heard - contract up in the summer, some suggestion that Manchester United are reluctant to extend etc etc - but Neil Custis has got this one as an exclusive. Quite the scoop.

The same report ends with the 'news' - that's also been mooted for months - that 'Valencia have joined the £8.5m chase for...Javier Hernandez'. We assume he means they have joined Inter Milan, long linked with the United striker. The Mexican striker's agent Eduardo Hernandez said this on Wednesday: "I think these are just rumours. I have no news of Inter and Manchester United have not let me know anything about a possible offer."

In more 'news you've already read elsewhere', Marca claimed on Wednesday afternoon - in a two-page special - that Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in expressing interest in young Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.

As Marca is the mouthpiece of the club, we can assume that there is either some truth in the story or that Madrid are trying to ramp up the price of a player they are now keen to sell. Arsenal tried to sign him on loan in January and would presumably return with an offer in the summer, when he could come at a bargain price because his contract expires in 2015.

Both Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana have been extensively linked with Manchester United and new Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger (appointed by 'dream-wrecker' Katharina Liebherr) stopped short of guaranteeing their futures at the club at his unveiling.

"We will do everything possible to retain the players as long as possible but it is too early in the process to specify what that means," he said. "Everybody has to know that we will work within our means. We will have a healthy organisation with no shortcuts."

We read that to mean that perhaps only one of their crown jewels will be sold in the summer.
