UNITED IN TALKS FOR COLEMAN
Only yesterday this very column was bringing you news that Seamus Coleman was amongst a group of Everton players set to be offered new contracts, but this morning we have Coleman news of a very different nature. The Daily Mirror is claiming that Manchester United are in 'advanced talks' to sign the right-back from Everton.
Given that the right full-back position is the only one across the defence that probably won't need replacing this summe.r it would be a ballsy move from United, with the paper also mentioning a possible £15million fee. That would certainly be a step-up from the £60,000 Everton paid Sligo Rovers for Coleman, who is the top-scoring defender in the Premier League this season.
Quite what Everton will think about David Moyes again coming back to raid the club goodness only knows, but we think we can guess. Also, when did Seamus Coleman suddenly get to be 25?!
SHAQIRI TO MOVE TO ENGLAND?
There is little doubt that Xherdan Shaqiri is a dream of a midfielder and, at just 22, is likely to be star for the future. However, there is also little doubt that getting into Bayern Munich's midfield right now is the toughest task in world football, and so it is little doubt that the Swiss winger has found his chances limited.
That has inevitably brought talk of a move, and the Daily Mirror this morning run with quotes from the player's brother in which he discusses both Liverpool and Manchester United as possible summer destinations.
"Xherdan is 22. At this age, he needs to be playing regularly, which is not currently the case," Erdin Shaqiri said.
"We are waiting now until summer. Then, when clubs make approaches such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Inter Milan and other top clubs, we can listen to their offers. That said, Bayern still remains our first point of contact before we talk to other clubs."
Well then, that's definitely happening.
INTER IN FOR HERNANDEZ
It appears that Inter aren't content with just signing one Manchester United player this summer, with Nemanja Vidic already signed on the dotted line. The Daily Express this morning report that the Milan club are in 'advanced negotiations' to pinch Javier Hernandez from Old Trafford.
The Mexican has been given just 16 Premier League appearances this season, with the majority of them coming as a substitute, and has scored just two league goals. With that in mind, a move abroad does make a good deal of sense. It doesn't seem long since it was Real Madrid that were reportedly showing interest.
Inter striker Diego Milito is out of contract this summer, and the club evidently view Hernandez as an ideal replacement. Can't say we disagree.
