United (and others) to miss out on Mehdi Benatia, Chelsea want £30m for Lukaku, Vlaar to hold Villa talks...
RODRIGO THE RED?
'Liverpool interest in Rodrigo confirmed as Man United and Chelsea join £25m race for Benfica hot shot' is the headline on the Daily Mail website but that's stretching the truth a tad as Jorge Jesus' answer to a question about Liverpool's interest was as follows: "It's normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window. The league is full of high quality players so it's normal for other clubs to be interested. Rodrigo is going through a good moment."
Scouts from Manchester United, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion were also in attendance as Benfica completed their Europa League victory over Tottenham. But if they were there to see Rodrigo, they would have been sorely disappointed - he remained on the bench throughout.
WHO NEXT FOR ARSENAL?
We're not sure whether this qualifies as gossip but it's a slow day, so what the hell? The Daily Express have put together a list of possible candidates to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and they are Jurgen Klopp (described as 'a keen scholar of Wenger's'), Roberto Martinez (who was said last week to be Wenger's personal choice), Steve Bould and a bizarre combination of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
ETO'O BACK TO INTER?
"If (Massimo) Moratti calls me, why not?" said Samuel Eto'o when asked about a possible return to Inter Milan at the end of the season when his Chelsea contract expires. "I know that Inter has a new president (Erick Thohir) but Moratti is still there."
Eto'o has previously talked about going to the MLS or returning to Real Mallorca at the request of his son.
