Falcao is reportedly less than happy with his time in Monaco and, if the Manchester Evening News is to be believed, Manchester City have stolen a March on any other likely suitors by setting the ball rolling as early as this week.

The paper reports that City director of football Txiki Begiristain met with the Colombian's representatives in Madrid on Tuesday night, and that Falcao was also present at the meeting. Bizarrely, reports also suggest that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, Singaporean businessman Peter Lim and Monaco owner Dimitry Rybolovlev were all also present.

Two things are certain:
1. Falcao will cost someone a fair whack given that he moved for £50million last summer.
2. A strikeforce of Falcao, Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo would be bloody dreamy.

We enter new age of journalism, whereby a single tweet can grow into its own transfer rumour that becomes a national news story.

So when James Lippett, the agent of Yevhen Konoplyanka, sent a tweet out on Thursday claiming that he was "En route to Liverpool...", a lot of people seemingly went into meltdown. Four hours later, and Lippett had taken a photo of Liverpool Lime Street Station. It's on! The story is reported most prominently by the Daily Mail.

Konoplyanka was seemingly mightily close to joining Liverpool in January, only for his club Dnipro to pull the plug on the deal at the last moment, and reports have claimed that the winger is still very much interested in a move to Anfield. Who wouldn't be, right now.

Or, alternatively, Lippett could have been going to Liverpool for any other of a hundred reasons, and the whole story is rubbish. You decide.

If we could name three players that Chelsea would not want to sell this summer, Eden Hazard, Oscar and Nemanja Matic would probably take the podium spots, but the Daily Mirror today go big on the story that Jose Mourinho may be forced to sell one of his two prized attacking assets.

The news comes on the back of understandable assumptions that Jose wants at least two strikers to join the club this summer, with Diego Costa and Mario Mandzukic the two names bandied about more than most. With FFP rules starting to bite, Chelsea will have to sell before they can buy, and names such as Ashley Cole or Frank Lampard simply won't generate enough return.

Given the form of Matic since his arrival, we'd rather suspect that Mourinho will be crossing his fingers for Barcelona's transfer ban to be overturned with the hope of selling David Luiz instead.
