Bayern players didn't want United says Pep, Luiz Gustavo happy at Wolfsburg and Deulofeu back to Everton in January...
LIVERPOOL IN FOR BARKLEY
It's amazing the pulling power that being Premier League title favourites gives you in transfer gossip columns, and the Daily Star today go big and ballsy with the claim that Liverpool will attempt a £38million move for Ross Barkley from neighbours Everton. It's an 'Exclusive' too.
The paper claim that Liverpool are prepared to break their transfer record to sign the 20-year-old England midfielder, who has earned a multitude of plaudits for his performances this season.
However, Roberto Martinez was fairly clear on Barkley's situation just three months ago: "Ross is in a moment of his career where, first, he knows that he needs to carry on developing and this is the perfect place to do that. Second, he is a mad Evertonian and enjoying every single second. And third, we are in the middle of a season where we would never, ever consider disrupting what we have got in our squad now. It is not the right time for the player or the club to consider -anything. Even if we got a Gareth Bale-size valuation we would never even consider it."
The Star also mention that Liverpool interest would also spark bids from other Premier League clubs, which is rather covering their bases somewhat. We'll say it loud: can't see him going to Anfield.
STONES TO CHELSEA OR ARSENAL?
Barkley isn't the only player touted to be leaving Goodison Park this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea in John Stones, who has impressed significantly during his early outings in central defence for Everton.
Stones was signed from Barnsley for £3million in January 2013 and is still just 19, but his ability to transform himself from right-back to central defender has persuaded several high-profile clubs that he would be a wonderful investment for the future.
Quite how big an offer it would take to make Everton sell when Stones could be the perfect replacement for the ageing Sylvain Distin is unclear, but I think we could file under 'pretty damn sizeable'.
ARSENAL AFTER REAL SWOOP
Music to the eyes (that doesn't work, does it?) of Arsenal supporters, we bring you news of a potential double signing in the summer, and neither of them currently play in Ligue 2. Yaaay!
The Daily Mirror report that alongside a £12million offer for Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata, Arsenal will also test the club's resolve over midfielder Casemiro. The 22-year-old joined from Sao Paolo for £5million and has shown his quality during his brief glimpses at the Bernabeu. However, with competition for places so great, Casemiro may look for a move away from the Bernabeu, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
Casemiro has five caps for Brazil, and his playing style is comparable (although obviously not at the level) to Fernandinho, capable of driving forward but also with enough resolve to provide cover for the defence.
