The Push Gossip

Quite how the Daily Star can have an 'Exclusive' about which players Louis van Gaal wants to sign for United when his representatives are staying schtum on whether he will even get the job is uncertain, but that's exactly what has happened so don't shoot the messenger.

The paper claim that the manager's two top transfer targets are Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos and Roma's Kevin Strootman. Van Gaal gave Kroos his big break at Bayern, whilst Strootman would have been part of the Dutchman's World Cup plans were it not for a serious knee injury that required surgery. Whether that injury would hamper a bid is unclear.

The Star also mention that Van Gaal would keep on Giggs as his assistant, which again appears to be an educated punt. Play like they did during the second half on Saturday, however, and it's clear that United fans would quite like to keep Giggs around.

Well hello there, it's another Daily Star 'Exclusive' for you, with news that Liverpool are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen pair Emre Can and Heung-Min Son.

The first thing that jumps out with the story is that both players only joined Leverkusen last summer (and Son arrived for a club record fee), so couldn't exactly see either joining Liverpool on the cheap. The South Korean forward has scored 11 goals in his 41 matches this season.

Can moved to the BayArena from Bayern Munich, where he made just four Bundesliga appearances. He has made 27 appearances in the league for Leverkusen this season, 22 of which have been starts, and is just 20 years old. He has been compared to Michael Ballack, but that may be more about the links with Bayern and Leverkusen.

Still, exciting names nonetheless.

Whether Alan Pardew will actually be the man to spend Mike Ashley's money this summer is a question for another time, but the Daily Mirror report that the Newcastle manager would like to bring Jonjo Shelvey to St James' Park when the transfer window opens.

Given that Swansea spent £6million on Shelvey and he has actually been pretty impressive during his time at the Liberty Stadium, it would surely take a bid north of £10m to sign the 22-year-old midfielder. Would Newcastle fans be happy with that?

The Mirror also report that Pardew is understandably keen to add an English element to his rather French-sounding squad, and is also interested in taking Jack Colback on a free from Sunderland.

Schalke's 20-year-old left-back Sead Kolasinac - one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga - has emerged as a target for Manchester United... Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is optimistic he will sign Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi on a permanent deal... Liverpool are the latest club to show an interest in Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, 22, who has been watched by Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle and Juventus after scoring 17 goals this season... Rio Ferdinand is mulling over offers from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Besiktas, MLS outfit LA Galaxy and Al Gharafa of Qatar but would prefer to stay at Manchester United.
