UNITED MAKE SHAW BID
It's a move that has been touted for a number of months, but it now appears that Manchester United have cemented their reported interest in Southampton's Luke Shaw with a bid of £27million, according to those jolly chaps at Sky Sports.

Shaw has been excellent this season, and appears to be going to Brazil with England, but that would make him the third most expensive teenager in football history and also the second most expensive full-back. Talk about an English premium.

It seems likely that United will get their man, too. Southampton have made noises about keeping their best players, but if a bid that big comes in for an 18-year-old you surely have to take it, buy a foreign replacement and then keep plundering your wonderful academy?

PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS AFTER XAVI
You know the Premier League season has finished when an 'Exclusive' appears regarding Xavi joining one of three different English clubs - the Daily Star is keeping its options open, it seems.

Xavi is 34 and reportedly wants £150,000 a week. We can't imagine that sitting too well with any of Manchester United, Arsenal or Manchester City's accountants, but that is the claim of the Daily Star, who boldly state that 'Barcelona legend Xavi is being offered to Premier League clubs.' That's a bit different to them 'eyeing him up', as the headline suggests, but who are we to doubt them?

Let's just say we'd be surprised if Xavi goes anywhere but outside of Europe for a whopping great pay-off to end an extremely distinguished career.

NEWCASTLE WANT DELPH AND WEIMANN
Initial reports seem to suggest that Alan Pardew will keep his job at St James' Park, something that will please the locals no end, and the Daily Star claim that Chunky is already making plans for this summer's transfer window.

The two names that the paper pick out are Fabian Delph and Andreas Weimann of Aston Villa, with Newcastle aiming to take advantage of a pretty sombre mood at Villa Park following a rotten season.

Delph would be a potential (if slightly less glamorous) replacement for Yohan Cabaye, whilst Weimann would at least offer some support for a forward line that at the moment looks like being a crocked Papiss Cisse next season. The fee mentioned for the two players combined is £15million, which sounds about right actually.

AND THE REST
Hull City are interested in Cardiff striker Fraizer Campbell, 26, who wants to leave the club after Premier League relegation and would be available for as little as £800,000 because of an escape clause in his contract... West Ham boss Sam Allardyce wants Norwich winger Robert Snodgrass to head his summer spending spree... Chelsea have opened talks with Atletico Madrid in an attempt to complete the £32m signing of striker Diego Costa ahead of the World Cup.
