The Sleepy Gossip

Liverpool keen on signing Joe Hart, Ashley has never thought of sacking Pardew, big clubs in for Fulham's Roberts

Could this actually happen? We're still hugely sceptical, but reports that Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Toni Kroos are continuing apace.

According to ESPN, United have made 'significant advancements' in their pursuit of the 24-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Apparently the 'principles of an agreement' are in place, which we imagine means that if United meet Bayern's asking price, Kroos will be happy to sign on the dotted line.

There is no word on the possible fee, but United can expect to pay £30m-plus.

There is still plenty of talk that Thomas Vermaelen will leave Arsenal this summer, with Arsene Wenger reportedly eyeing Adil Rami as a replacement.

The 28-year-old narrowly missed out on a place in France's World Cup squad despite impressing during his loan spell to AC Milan in the second half of the season.

The Daily Express claim that Milan want to tie up a permanent deal for Rami, but are reluctant to pay the £5.5m fee they originally agreed. That could let Arsenal in, with Marseille also interested.

It looks like Luke Shaw could become Louis van Gaal's first signing at Manchester United following reports that the left-back has been house hunting in the area.

United are thought to be closing in on a £27m deal for Shaw, who pipped Ashley Cole to a place in England's World Cup squad.

According to the Daily Mirror, a source close to the family said: "Luke is still only 18 and his family want everything to be right for him. Where he lives and how he adjusts to a new city is a big thing for them - but now they are convinced about the move."

This looks like mischief-making to us, as the Daily Mirror link Manchester United with a move for long-term Liverpool target Yevhen Konoplyanka.

The 24-year-old Ukraine international was close to joining Liverpool in Janaury, but Dnipro pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.

There is talk that Brendan Rodgers will return for Konoplyanka in the summer, but it seems United could now rival the Reds for the winger's signature. A fee of around £12m has been reported.
