The Shorty Gossip

Di Maria wants Manchester United move (or not), Liverpool are going to raid Southampton again and Lukaku to Real or Juve...

Maybe Arsenal passed up on Cesc Fabregas because they had Sami Khedira in their sights? According to French newspaper Le 10 Sport, Arsenal are plotting a £16m move for German international Khedira, who could find himself surplus to requirements if Real Madrid buy one of Juventus star Paul Pogba, PSG midfielder Marco Verratti or Chelsea's Ramires.

Elsewhere, the Gunners are being linked (by with an £8m move for Cardiff City keeper David Marshall. He would be a fine addition as back-up and competition for Wojcech Scczesny.

One of our colleagues at Sky Sports has already claimed this is bunkum (our word, not his), but are 'exclusively' reporting that 'Tottenham are ready to pay the £9 million buyout clause to sign Loic Remy from QPR but the striker is holding out for the possibility of a move to Arsenal after the World Cup'.

They suggest that the French striker sees Tottenham as a viable option but that the Gunners - with their Champions League football and shiny big stadium - would be his preferred destination.

There was talk in the Daily Telegraph on Tuesday morning that the Cesc Fabregas deal was being slightly delayed because Chelsea were so reluctant about paying a sum that would trigger a profit payment to Arsenal, but the Daily Mail website claims later on Tuesday that the £28m deal could be completed by Friday, with Diego Costa to follow for £32m. Not too shabby, that Chelsea side.

Get Khedira !!! He's the player who makes Ozil tick for Germany, and for Real Madrid when they played together. They're bessie mates and it's maybe no surprise they both had sub par seasons for their clubs without each other. £16m for 'Mesut's Minder' is a bargain in my opinion, as he's the holding CM we've been needing for seasons now. I'd love Cesc to come back of course , but Khedira's a better fit for us right now , and will boost Ozil's confidence massively. Think to the future, not of the past.
