FALCAO FOR SALE
Arsenal are one of the clubs mentioned by French magazine Le10Sport in connection with a move for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, but £48m? For a 28-year-old? We simply cannot see it. Nor can we see Chelsea moving for Falcao rather than Diego Costa, or Falcao opting for Manchester United when they're not in the Champions League and he would have to fight with Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney for a starting place.

So what does make sense? Real Madrid, of course.

REDS MOVE FOR SANCHEZ
We're delivering this with a hefty dose of salt as it comes from the Daily Star, who claim that 'Liverpool are preparing a last-ditch £27m bid to sign Barcelona and Chile forward Alexis Sanchez'. Wow. The Star admit it's a 'mammoth bid' - a hell of a lot more than the previous reported bid of £18m. But with Juventus apparently in the driving seat, Liverpool obviously felt compelled to make a splash. If there's any truth in this at all.

LOWLANDS LATEST
We just missed this in the transfer gossip this morning - the Daily Telegraph exclusively claimed that 'Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has agreed a deal in principle to join Manchester United this summer'. Apparently the deal is worth £100,000 a week to Vermaelen, who shares the same agent as Louis van Gaal's golden boy Robin van Persie.

It sounds genuine if a little underwhelming. Not sounding genuine are reports elsewhere that Arsenal will only do business on Vermaelen if they can get a piece of Nani in return.

BAG OF TOFFEES
We know that Everton need to sign a few players this summer ahead of a Europa League campaign and prolific tittle-tattler Simon Jones of the Daily Mail has claimed that 'Everton have spoken to Wolfsburg about a potential move for Croatia winger Ivan Perisic', who should be available for around £8m. He can play on either wing and last season scored ten goals for Wolfsburg.

Linked elsewhere with Everton are Dutch pair Stefan de Vrij and Bruno Martins Indi (De Telegraaf) and Braga's Portuguese midfielder Rafa Silva (ESPN), who has previously been linked with Southampton.

AND THE REST
West Ham are set to win the race for Anderlecht's Cheikhou Kouyaté...Newcastle have revived a deal for Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga...Inter Milan have an interest in QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia...Leeds United have rejected a bid from Fulham for Ross McCormack...Newcastle have offered Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis a £75,000-a-week deal...

@thetruthwillout, well said. The way Moyes and Woodward operated last year was a joke, they did all their bidding in public. I'm delighted the media don't have a clue which is exactly how SAF operated, most of our top signings only became apparent when the deals were done and the players arrived for medicals. Be patient I'm sure Ed is working furiously in the background, because it's his job on the line too!
