The first name that leaps out is that of Alexis Sanchez, strongly linked to Liverpool earlier in the week and now - according to reports in Chile - desperate to leave Barcelona and his second-class citizen status behind Lionel Messi, with the Premier League his preferred destination. Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with the Chilean forward, who scored 19 goals in La Liga last season.

Elsewhere, Arsenal have also been linked with Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic again (Metro), while reports in Italy say that AC Milan want Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell included in any deal for Italian striker Mario Balotelli.

We bring this with a massive dose of salt as it comes from CaughtOffside, who claim that Liverpool could bid £8m for Manchester United reserve winger Antonio Valencia. We're not sure we should even bother with their reasoning so we'll just move somebody called 888Sport claiming Reds interest in Italian winger Antonio Candreva. At this point feel free to insert the names of any other right-wingers that spring to mind.

The Daily Mail's Neil Ashton is in Brazil on World Cup duty but he's still found time to help out his old Chelsea pal Ashley Cole with a story about interest from Barcelona and AC Milan. He explains why Barcelona might be interested ('Barcelona are struggling to fill the left-back position') but then the AC Milan link seems like a guess ('Milan are also on the lookout for new players after Filippo Inzaghi was brought in to replace Clarence Seedorf as the club's new coach'). Still a good player, mind.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has conceded defeat in his efforts to prise Eden Hazard from Chelsea. He told RMC Brazil: "Hazard is a top player, but I think Chelsea want to keep him. A lot of players are going to be mentioned, but we have already got our priority, David Luiz. We're going to wait a bit before making any more signings. Be patient."
