Liverpool eye Vidal, Pogba and Reus in £150m splurge, Spurs eye Benatia, Destro and Griezmann, and lots more...
CHELSEA IN FOR POGBA AND AUBAMEYANG
With Willian, Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic, Ramires, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel, Mohamed Salah, John Obi Mikel, Fernando Torres, Victor Moses, Romelu Lukaku, Demba Ba, Christian Atsu, Marko Marin, Patrick Bamford and Lucas Piazon already at the club and a deal for Diego Costa all but completed, you might think that Chelsea have quite enough options in midfield and attack. But you'd be wrong.
The Daily Star this morning go pretty big on the claim that Chelsea are looking to wrap up deals for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Paul Pogba from Juventus. One of those seems realistic, the other less so.
Aubameyang is a move that has been doing the round for a couple of days now, with the paper believing that Jose Mourinho can seal a deal for around £7million, which seems a little cheap to us. The Gabon striker only moved to Germany last summer, and scored 13 goals in 21 starts in the Bundesliga last season.
The move for Pogba is worth £60million, we're told, with the Star claiming that Mourinho wishes to use the Frenchman with Matic in midfield, and Fabregas playing in behind Costa. That's the sort of chat that makes us go weak at the knees for the new season.
UNITED INTEREST IN JANMAAT
You're never going to believe this, but there is a rumour linking a Dutch World Cup player with a move to join Louis van Gaal at Manchester United. Well knock us down with a feather.
Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord is the man in question, with the right-back having just one year left on his deal in Holland. The Daily Mail report that United have shown interest in Janmaat, and are joined by Napoli, Tottenham, Arsenal and Leicester.
The paper also claim that Stefan de Vrij and Bruno Martins Indi have been scouted by United. Same club, same nationality, same Van Gaal link.
ARSENAL JOIN VIDAL RACE
This gossiper is very much getting on board any bandwagon that involved Arturo Vidal arriving in the Premier League, and the Daily Star today add Arsenal's name to the list of clubs trying to make my dreams come true.
The paper believe that Arsenal will 'smash their transfer record by paying £44m for Vidal.' Not really 'smashing' it by paying £1.5m more than they did for Mesut Ozil, is it?
The paper do use quotes that Wenger gave to French television during the World Cup, which do certainly shower praise on the midfielder.
"Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world," Wenger said.
"He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He's a marathon athlete who plays football."
You bloody bet he is, Arsene.
