Chelsea to offer £35m for Carvalho, Marco Reus turned down United, Roma keen to bring Jovetic back to Italy...
UNITED INTERESTED IN RODRIGUEZ
It might not be the World Cup Rodriguez that Manchester United supporters would ideally be welcoming to Old Trafford, but there is little doubt that Switzerland left-back Ricardo Rodriguez also impressed in Brazil.
With Patrice Evra closing in on a move to Juventus, United will look rather light in the position despite the purchase of Luke Shaw, and it appears that Rodriguez may be the answer to those immediate concerns. That's certainly the opinion of The Times.
The defender currently plays for VfL Wolfsburg, and even before the World Cup was regardest as one of the brightest young talents in the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg director Klaus allofs has previously promised that the club's best players would not be sold, but United may make them an offer that would be difficult to refuse.
LIVERPOOL MULLING OVER DAVIES BID
Liverpool may be happily buying up midfielders and attackers like they are trying to complete some sort of collection, but if Brendan Rodgers asked for our opinion on the priority for his squad, we'd slip him a piece of paper in an envelope (it's what he understands) with 'LEFT BACK' written in large letters. Jose Enrique isn't the answer.
With that in mind, the story in the Daily Telegraph is that Rodgers is 'mulling over' a £10million bid for Swansea's Ben Davies. Davies has long been rumoured to be close to joining Spurs, but one would suspect that the left-back may prefer a move to play under his former manager at Swansea.
After a few years in which Spurs have tried to gatecrash every Liverpool transfer party, is this payback time?
ARSENAL WANT £6M FOR ARTETA
With Arsenal firmly in the market for a holding midfielder, it appears that Mikel Arteta's time at the club may be drawing to a close. The Spaniard is now 32, and there were signs during last season that his dynamism has suffered slightly through the incessant passing of time.
The Times this morning believe that Fiorentina will be Arteta's next destination but, whilst the Italian club want to pay a fee of around £3million, Arsenal are holding out for double that amount.
Muddying the water slightly are quotes from Arteta's agent, claiming that his client is just fine at Arsenal, thank you very much.
"I have never spoken with Fiorentina," Inaki Ibanez told Radio Blu Toscana. "Mikel has one year more on his contract and he has no desire to go away from Arsenal."
"He's fine there and he's also the team's captain. I have not spoken with any club."
