VAN GAAL TO HAVE SUMMER CLEAR-OUT
'Louis Van Gaal to AXE Manchester United flops in the next 48 hours,' reads the headline in the Daily Star - rather ballsy given that we're not quite sure how you 'AXE' a player within that period of time. 'Put up for sale' might be a more accurate phrase.
The players listed as being 'AXED' include Anderson, Javier Hernandez, Wilfried Zaha, Nani, Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling and Bebe, whilst there are apparently 'huge doubts' over the future of Darren Fletcher, Ashley Young and Rafael.
To be honest, fellas, we can't see Van Gaal allowing ten players to leave before his first season as even started, given that there is little chance of United replacing them all.
However, we do take the general point: There is a lot of deadwood to be cleared out of Old Trafford.
'SPURS IN FOR GRIEZMANN
The Spurs fans in the Transfer Blog over the last few days have been remarkably worried about the club's lack of business, and with good reason - with QPR, they are the only Premier League club without a signing.
That may all change however, with The Times claiming (and pretty sensationally too) that the club are prepared to go up against Bayern Munich for the signing of Antoine Griezmann. Have that one.
The Frenchman has a £24million buy-out clause at Real Sociedad and, with Mauricio Pochettino looking for a left winger, Griezmann is seen as the ideal option.
Spurs or Bayern?
QPR TO GO FOR VLAAR
It never rains but it pours for Aston Villa fans. Not only do they have to put up with their manager claiming that Philippe Senderos is a fantastic signing. Not only must they accept that Joe Cole and Kieran Richardson are the height of their transfer power this summer. Not only has their club told West Brom that Alan Hutton is not for sale. But now their best defender is being targeted by a promoted club.
Concrete Ron Vlaar is that man, with QPR and Harry Redknapp sniffing around the Dutch defender. The Daily Express describe how Vlaar is top of Harry's 'summer wishlist', and with him entering the final year of his contract is vulnerable to being tempted elsewhere.
If Vlaar and Christian Benteke left Villa Park, you really would have to worry about the club's season.
AND THE REST
Swansea are close to signing £4m Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero...Porto have slapped a £31.5million buy-out clause on Bruno Martins Indi after the Manchester United target snubbed the Premier League...Stoke City are close to signing Liverpool's Moroccan winger Oussama Assaidi, 25, in a deal that could be worth up to £7m... Greek side Olympiakos want to sign Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz on a free transfer, even though he has a year remaining on his contract... Leeds could bid for Roma's £2milion-rated midfielder Federico Viviani.
@sirsteveuk, I thought a Villa fan might take offence to the idea of Young = Vlaar + cash, and your right that it doesn't make much sense. However, given the stupid prices often paid for English players (no matter how mediocre), it wouldn't surprise me.- Mike_Christie
