Spurs want Jay Rodriguez, United, Liverpool and Spurs chase Toprak, Arsenal want Lichtsteiner and Romulo...

It's easy to say 'Poor Isco' after the impending arrival of James Rodriguez looks to push the Spaniard further down the Real Madrid midfielder/forward queue, but he surely knew what he was getting himself into when he joined.

However, Real's loss might well be Liverpool's gain, with the Daily Star going big on claims that Brendan Rodgers has made an approach to loan him for a year. Isco made 46 appearances for Real last season, but the arrival of Rodriguez and Toni Kroos must just make him shake his head in sadness.

So Liverpool fans, ready for some Isco dancing?

After the apparent disappointment of missing out on Sami Khedira (although is a deal really dead in the water yet?), we rather thought that Morgan Schneiderlin would be Arsenal's second-choice midfield purchase. We forgot about William Carvalho, of course.

The Daily Telegraph not only claim that Arsene Wenger has had a £24million bid rejected (because the fee was to be spread over two payments), but also intends to go back with an improved offer for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Given that Carvalho's agent is a certain Jorge Mendes, it appears that hardball will very much need to be played if Arsenal are to land a midfielder that has just two seasons at the top level under his belt for an acceptable price.

Talking of Schneiderlin, and perhaps our Morgan-radar was just slightly off-kilter. He's still heading to North London, but it is White Hart Lane that shall be his final destination. That's if the Daily Mirror have got this one bob on.

The paper do report Arsenal interest in Schneiderlin, but state that the Frenchman would prefer a move to Spurs to play under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Mirror also state that Michel Vorm to Spurs is also a done deal. Because if there are two areas in which Spurs look fine it's central midfield and goalkeeper. Top work.

Thank goodness they've at least brought a left-back in. Ben Davies should be announced in the next few days.
