The Syrupy Gossip

Spurs want Jay Rodriguez, United, Liverpool and Spurs chase Toprak, Arsenal want Lichtsteiner and Romulo...

That's according to the Daily Star, who claim the Belgian is ready to join the Serie A side after accepting his time at Manchester United is over.

Napoli still need to agree a fee with United, however, with the Red Devils apparently holding out for £18m, which would still represent a sizeable loss in just 12 months.

'Talks are understood to have been held in Brussels and ended with Fellaini agreeing to the transfer,' report the Star.

'Napoli have yet to meet United's £18m asking price however, with the Blues hoping to secure a preliminary loan deal with an option for a permanent move.'

Arsenal have been handed a boost in the race for Sami Khedira after it emerged that Bayern Munich are hoping to sign the German on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer.

Real Madrid would obviously prefer to avoid that situation and get some cash money for the midfielder, encouraging Arsenal to return with another offer.

'The Gunners see the German international as the ideal recruit this summer as they hope to add some more class to their already strong-looking midfield,' report the Mirror.

'The move looked dead in the water only a matter of weeks ago with indications suggesting the 27-year-old wanted upwards of £150,000 to join up.'

To be honest, this doesn't seem to make a great deal of sense to us. If wages were always the issue, then how does Real's willingness to sell change anything?

He might have to if he still has his heart set on joining Spurs, say the Daily Mirror.

The Saints midfielder has already handed in a transfer request, but he may have to go a step further to force through a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino.

A 'source' told the Mirror: "It is in danger of getting very messy.

"Morgan wants to leave and feels the club have gone back on their word after telling him in January they would sell him if a suitable offer was made.

"He was so convinced he would be on the move he started to pack up his house, so was shocked when Ralph Krueger told him he was going nowhere under any circumstances."

Meanwhile, Spurs are also hoping to snap up Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier for around £4m.

"If wages were always the issue, then how does Real's willingness to sell change anything" - maybe because Real would accept a lower transfer fee, allowing more to be paid to Khedira in wages/signing-on fee?
