FALCAO TO LIVERPOOL? HUH?
We rather thought that Liverpool having a strikeforce of Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert and an unwanted Fabio Borini was a little silly, but if reports are to be believed (and it's a big 'if') then Radamel Falcao could be the eyebrow-raising answer to that concern.

Falcao has been tipped to move this summer, but it was assumed that Real Madrid would be his obvious destination, with Manchester City also mentioned in more than passing.

The Metro is running with quotes from Italian journalist Mina Rzouki, who claims that a very good source has informed her that it is Liverpool are in the driving seat to sign the Colombian. Can something smell fishy and of bulls**t.

It's estimated that the 28-year-old is available on-loan with a view to a permanent deal which would suit Liverpool. Well of course it bloody would!

BENATIA BACK ON UNITED RADAR

Given the unlikelihood of actually landing Mats Hummels and the very strange race to chase Thomas Vermaelen's signature, Manchester United interest in Mehdi Benatia just makes a lot of sense to us.

It's a rumour that has resurfaced in the Daily Express, largely due to Roma closing in on the signing of Konstantinos Manolas for £8million, considered to be a direct replacement for Benatia. The French-born Moroccan only moved to Roma from Udinese for €13.5m on a five-year contract last summer.

In truth, any deal is likely to cost United £30million (which is a bit steep), but they sure do need a central defender.

NAPOLI IN FOR LUCAS

With Manchester United reportedly expecting £4million from Napoli just to take Marouane Fellaini on loan, it appears likely that they may flounce off to take their business elsewhere.

It may be a classic case of 2 + 2 = 4, but The Sun go bold on the claim that Liverpool midfielder Lucas is the answer to all of Napoli's hopes and desires. Rafael Benitez certainly isn't scared of buying a player that he knows, and brought the Brazilian to Anfield in 2007.

Lucas' status at Liverpool fell away dramatically last season, with injuries hampering his progress before Jordan Henderson, Joe Allen and Steven Gerrard's excellence limited the Brazilian to just a handful of starts.

It's another of those moves that just seems to contain an awful lot of logic.

AND THE REST

Tottenham are confident of landing PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay - even though midfielder Nacer Chadli would not be prepared to go the other way in part-exchange... Swansea are ready to splash out £8million on Napoli's Argentina World Cup centre-half Federico Fernandez... Arsenal could step up their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Douglas Costa after failing to land Porto's Juan Quintero... Queens Park Rangers are chasing West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame... Henri Lansbury will not sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest and is set to instead join Burnley in a deal worth around £3.5million... West Ham want striker Peter Crouch but have been put off by Stoke City's £3million asking price.

@magicfuller. Actually it was a gentle, good-natured poke at the notion that he has good feet for a.... oh, never mind. Bud.
