WELBECK TO LEAVE UNITED
Danny Welbeck could be set to leave Manchester United after Louis van Gaal told the striker he's free to go.

However, United have reportedly stipulated that Welbeck won't be sold to a club in the top six, which dashes Spurs and Arsenal's hopes of signing the 23-year-old.

'United do not want Welbeck to sign for a club that could potentially deny them a return to the top four and the Champions League,' report the Mirror.

'Welbeck is valued at around £15million by United, and the 23-year-old has already been the subject of interest from Hull boss Steve Bruce.'

ETO'O ON STANDBY
Samuel Eto'o is waiting for a last-minute hiccup in Mario Balotelli's transfer to Liverpool, report the Daily Mirror.

Apparently the 33-year-old passed a medical on Friday and will sign a one-year deal should Balotelli's switch be called off at the 11th hour.

'Former Chelsea striker Eto'o, 33, underwent a medical in Paris on Friday and is hoping to fly to Liverpool this weekend to complete the move,' report the Mirror.

'But Mirror Sport can reveal that Liverpool have taken the extraordinary step of putting Eto'o through a medical because of lingering doubts about bad boy Balotelli.

'Rodgers could end up signing both strikers but it is more likely that only one will move to Anfield and the Eto'o back-up plan is a highly unusual step.'

BARCA WANT DI MARIA
Manchester United face stiff competition from Barcelona in their bid to sign Angel Di Maria after the La Liga runners-up offered £48m for the winger.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez immediately rejected Barca's offer, but it's thought that they could still return with another bid.

Meanwhile, United are still pondering whether to meet Di Maria's £55m price tag before the end of the window.
