Gareth Bale: Included in Chris Coleman's squad amid intense speculation rega

Chris Coleman's side will face the Irish at the Cardiff City Stadium next Wednesday.

Bale will form past of Wales' plans amid intense speculation regarding his future at club level.

The Spurs talisman continues to be heavily linked with a record-breaking switch to Real Madrid and has sat out a number of recent fixtures as he looks to overcome a knock.

Coleman has, however, included Bale in a 23-man squad alongside the likes of Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy.

Hennessey missed the majority of last season after suffering two cruciate ligament injuries, while Bellamy is readying himself for the start of a Premier League campaign with the Bluebirds.

Another man preparing for life in the top tier of English football, Crystal Palace's teenage midfielder Jonathan Williams, is also included, while Swansea City defender Ashley Williams will once again skipper the side.

Wales squad for friendly date with Republic of Ireland on 14th August:

Goalkeepers: Wayne Hennessey (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Glyn Myhill (West Bromwich Albion), Owain Fon Williams (Tranmere Rovers)

Defenders: Ben Davies (Swansea City), James Collins (West Ham United), Danny Gabbidon (Crystal Palace), Chris Gunter (Reading), Adam Matthews (Celtic), Sam Ricketts (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Neil Taylor (Swansea City), Ashley Williams (Swansea City)

Midfielders: Joe Allen (Liverpool), Jack Collison (West Ham United), Andy King (Leicester City), Joe Ledley (Celtic), Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal), David Vaughan (Sunderland), Jonathan Williams (Crystal Palace)

Forwards: Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur), Craig Bellamy (Cardiff City), Simon Church (Charlton Athletic), Hal Robson-Kanu (Reading),Sam Vokes (Burnley)

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
