Stevenage are resigned to losing their prize asset this summer following their relegation to League Two and are braced for offers for Freeman.

Freeman, who signed for Arsenal as a 16-year-old, was one of Stevenage's shining lights last season scoring eight goals and completed a clean sweep of the club's end-of-season player awards.

Freeman was the subject of several enquiries from Championship sides during the January transfer window and now Watford are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring the 22-year-old to Vicarage Road.

Watford are understood to have made an enquiry to Stevenage for Freeman as Beppe Sannino looks to continue his reshaping of his squad ahead of next season.
