Zoltan Gera: Suffered knee injury against QPR

Gera had to be substituted during the 1-1 draw at Loftus Road, with his replacement, Marc-Antoine Fortune, also sustaining a hamstring injury.

Jonas Olsson, Goran Popov, Steven Reid and Claudio Yacob are already sidelined while Youssouf Mulumbu has now joined up with DR Congo for the African Nations Cup.

Albion assistant boss Kevin Keen said: "Marc has got a little nick on his hamstring and, with Zoltan, we will have a scan over the next couple of days.

"Hopefully, fingers crossed, it's not too bad but we will just have to see. He (Gera) had a little twist and felt something so we will have to wait and see."

Albion will hope it is nothing major after Gera was sidelined for six months last season with a knee problem.

Meanwhile, winger Jerome Thomas has been told he could play a key role during the second half of the season after returning from a loan spell with Leeds.

Keen said: "Jerome is a top player and has got some fantastic ability. We sent him away to get fit, he's got fit and he's come back and is ready to play.

"What happens in the future will be up to Jerome and up to

(head coach) Steve Clarke and we will just have to go from there.

"But he is a super player, he has done well in the past and I'm sure he can do well for us in the coming months."
