Ben Foster: Back in England squad

The Albion stopper has been recalled to the Three Lions squad for the World Cup qualifiers with San Marino and Montenegro, after two-years of self-imposed exile.

Foster made the decision originally to spend more time with his family, and he maintains he was right in doing so.

"Football is second to my family, without a doubt," said the 29-year-old.

"If people criticise me for wanting to spend time with my family rather than go away with England then that is fine. But my kids have grown up a bit now and have started school.

"And that's a huge thing for me. The reason I retired was partly down to family and partly down to a few injury niggles I had at the time which have now cleared up.

"You don't want to regret something. My kids are a huge part of my life and it would be lovely to show them a few DVD's and caps when they are older.

"There is the World Cup next year and I would love to go to that because I've not been to a major tournament."

Foster knows England boss Hodgson well from their time together at The Hawthorns, but he knows Manchester City's Joe Hart is currently number one.

"I know Joe is first choice and I am more than happy with that. He's a fantastic goalkeeper and we are very lucky to have him," he added.
