Having not emerged victorious from a clash with United at Old Trafford since 1978, many thought David Moyes' men would continue where they left off against Liverpool, and stroll to victory in the Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

However, Clarke's impressive Baggies had other ideas, and the West Brom boss hopes his players get the plaudits they deserve.

"I said before the game we had a good team and we were coming here to be positive," Clarke said.

"I just hope the focus is on how good West Brom were not how poor Manchester United were. We were terrific.

"We didn't come to sit in and defend, we came to win. The reception my players got off the Manchester United fans says it all."

The Baggies' new-look strikeforce caused the Premier League champions trouble all afternoon, a sight which pleased Clarke.

"We knew we had lost some firepower in the summer, and credit to the club for backing me in bringing those players in," he added.

"We have some positive players on the pitch, played to our strengths and it worked."

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
