The 32-year-old left Albion in controversial circumstances last summer, having tried to engineer a move to Queens Park Rangers in January 2013, causing a huge rift with then manager Steve Clarke.

Odemwingie had also lambasted Albion after they rejected QPR's advances to sign him, and he turned up on the Loftus Road doorstep on transfer deadline day only to be embarrassingly turned away.

The former Nigeria international eventually clinched a move to Cardiff before switching to Stoke in January and it will be the first time he has gone back to West Brom since his exit.

"There may well be some focus on his presence on the day, but you would like to think there would be some recognition from their supporters because he made a huge impact there," Hughes said.

"It didn't end in the manner he or anybody else would have liked, which was unfortunate. But Peter is an experienced player and he is used to playing under pressure.

"Not playing him won't come into my mind because of the reception he may get. He is playing well so he is firmly in my thoughts for the game."

Stoke, who have captain Ryan Shawcross back from suspension, have the chance to claim their highest ever finish in the Premier League with victory on the final day of the season.

And Hughes said: "Hopefully our highlight of the campaign will come at the weekend. It would be our first time in the top 10 and we can finish ninth, which would be an incredible achievement for us.

"It would be a great platform to build upon in seasons to come. There have been a lot of changes - it has been about evolution not revolution here this season."

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.

f you want to take six points off Arsenal, then that's a great strike force. Can't imagine either of them showing much for the rest of the season though...
