The Moroccan joined the Hammers on loan earlier this month and made his first appearance as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Sunderland.
Saturday's clash with QPR was his first chance to shine in front of the Upton Park faithful, and he acquitted himself well as the Hammers had to settle for a point.
"I think it was a good debut, from a personal point of view," he told the club's official website. "But we've basically lost two points because two goals would have enabled us to win the game at home, against a rival for survival. There you go, it's a shame because we had a lot of chances and we dominated the game.
"In view of how the game panned out, it's good to take a point, because we fell behind. From then on, we really pushed forward. They had to do a lot of defending and they defended very well.
"At the end, I think with perhaps about ten minutes left, we gave everything to win the game. So, we gave it our all and so I think, overall, both teams had to settle for the draw."
Julio Cesar produced an inspired performance in the QPR goal to keep West Ham, and Chamakh, at bay, but he is confident his luck will soon change.
"It's becoming a familiar feeling [in front of goal]," said the striker. "He [Cesar] has made two great saves against me, which is a shame, but it happens and hopefully they'll go in next time."
Chamakh will not have the opportunity to break his duck for West Ham in their next match as he is ineligible to face parent club Arsenal on Wednesday.
"I don't know if I necessarily have any secrets [about Arsenal]," he added. "The players will have to produce something pretty good over there."
"They're going to play with their hearts and their heads and they'll have to give everything to bring us back at least a point."
