Olympic tenancy for West Ham

West Ham have been officially confirmed as new tenants for the Olympic Stadium after a deal was finally agreed on Friday.

@ Northbank & Tokyo, we only "bid" for it as a bargaining chip, Northumberland park development was already on the table, check out the grants we were after and then recieved, after the bid went in. Mr Levy= shrewd operator, just wish he would be as shrewd about buying a Striker!!!!!

All you people asking will they fill it,did you not watch the play off against blackpool last season,did you not see more than half of wembley stadium full of westham fans,they are by far the best supported club in london,loyal to their team through thick and thin,you need to stop bumping your gums about a mediocre club ,they have produced some of the best players in this country that have gone on and played for their country,who have arsenal produced or spurs?can any of you remember who won the world cup for england,you ned to get over yourselves and watch this fantastic club grow and be a force in england ,a place the deserve

Love all the comments saying we can't sell out our current ground. Of our last 10 home league games they have all sold out or been within about 100 seats of a sell out. I doubt we could fill 60k now, but isn't the whole point of expanding the club to bring in new supporters as well as the existing ones. Also, raising prices is not inevitable, if anything they will lower them to bring new punters through the door.

Good deal for West Ham, rubbish one for the government and tax payers. I said all along that Spurs bid was the best for everyone but just from the wrong club. Our bid would have been from outside investment and not the tax payer over and above the pre-planned budget for converting the stadium. I hate this legacy rubbish, the world is a vastly different place than it was when we won the Olympic bid so why should we pander to the IOC when it's not now in the interests of the country, especially when the IOC are so alarmed at the state of athletics in past host cities...not. Glad it's not us there though as it didnt seem right, still, I doont want a new shiny Tottenham stadium either. I quite like our shi!!t little sttadium with restricted views and uneven stands.

If it was for the benefit of London, why didnt they just share it with Orient? A joint bid is one thing i've never seen reported and as West Ham will only get revenue from their own games I dont understand why it couldnt be used alternate weeks by Orient. I assume with WestHam only renting (and paying a rent fee i assume) they wont be able to avail of naming rights and the stadium will remain known as the Olympic Stadium?

They'll never fill it and we'll pay through the arse for it so that the Olympic 'legacy' that Boris dreams of attains a mirage of success. Quite why taxpayers should foot the bill for a private enterprise is beyond me, but then I shouldn't really be surprised given this countries pathetic record of snuffling round the crumbs these companies deign to drop them from their bounty laden table.
