Ryo Miyaichi: Returned to full training for Wigan after recovering from injury

Miyaichi picked up a knock while on duty with Japan and has not been able to feature for the Latics since their trip to Swansea in October.

But boss Roberto Martinez is now relishing the prospect of having Miyaichi in contention for Wigan's trip to Anfield this weekend after the 19-year-old returned to full training with the rest of the squad.

"We'll need to see how he responds to the work this week as the intensity of his preparations go up a level before we decide whether he can make the trip to Liverpool or not, but it's great news that he is back training with the squad," said Martinez.

"The injury was a big blow to him after a bright start to the season, but he remained positive throughout his recovery and is very close to 100% again, which is great news for the team."

Miyaichi added: "It's been a tough few weeks and I've been desperate to get involved on the pitch and in training but have had to remain patient.

"Now that I can step up my training I want to do everything I can to get back into the team and back appearing on the pitch."
